Impregnating your own wife? Could land you behind bars

KOCHI: This is going to be a tough code of conduct. You can be imprisoned for impregnating your own wife. Worst, you could be branded as a `legally disqualified person'.
This will be a reality if the Kerala Women's Code Bill 2011, submitted to the chief minister by a 12-member committee with Justice V R Krishna Iyer in the chair, is implemented in its letter and spirit.

This is the report that appeared in The Times Of India.

Justice Krishna Iyer, a stalwart in legal and social reform movements in Kerala, has put forward a great proposal. We need to understand that population is the cause for most of India's issues--poverty, unemployment, crime--the list is unending.
Look at this. India's population is about 1.26 billion. Out of which 40% is said to be youth. Which converts to about 500 million youth. This is equal to 250 million couple. Now, if 250 million couple are to have two kids each, that would bring in another 500 million over a period of 15-25 years. So our population will rise to 1.76 billion. Remember, during this time there is another generation growing.
Even two kids for a couple will mean that our population is growing at an unbelievably fast pace. We feel that the law should say 'one kid for a couple' and anything more should be taxed.
If the law comes into force, would you be willing to pay an exorbitant amount, let us say rs.50000.00 for your second child?
Only if we bring down population, can we deal with a lot of issues we face today. To attain something good, we have to take tough decisions.
Are you as an Indian ready for it?
Are you willing to pay a tax for a second child you make?
Are you willing to leave the clutches of religions and other superstitions which propagate 'children as God's gift'?
Does this phenomenon bother you?
Are you still happy living as a rs.25 Indian?
Remember, You are a human being -- the most valuable entity on earth.
Claim your worth! Feel your value! Experience it in your life.

  1. A child has two arms & a human brain to serve to serve humanity.Unfortunately it has also a mouth to it.
So a child is an asset or liability ?

  2. The Govt is not the deciding factor on the no. of children a couple has. Thats a personal consideration a couple has to make. Not the Government!!!
Having stated that India is a Democracy, taking away the right of parents to cohabit/procreate without the interference of outside forces, defeats democracy - freedom to act - in a big way..

  3. Democracy entails responsibility to each of us. When we lack it, the government has to enforce rules and regulations.
Freedom does not permit one to do anything and every thing in life.
    Which means, freedom with responsibility.
Looking at life holistically would eliminate narrow mindedness and ego which makes one's world narrow and life selfish.

  4. Justice Krishna Iyer must first make politicains understand this. especially laloo prasad and then put burden on common man. this politicians should be banned from contesting election if they have childern. this will also banish dynasty rule automatically.

Then he should put taxes on people who are already burdened by corrupt govt
